Kel-Tec, an American developer and manufacturer of firearms, is announcing a recall of some of their products. The Florida-based company made the announcement that it needs to recall certain Sub-2000 rifles. These rifles came out in 2017.
According to the manufacturer, these issues stem from the heat treatment of steel tubes the company was using while producing barrels for the firearms.
In the recall notice, Kel-Tec gave the warning that the tubes they were using were from a third-party supplier. And a certain percentage of the total number of barrels made use this material. As a result, there is a possibility that these barrels could rupture.
Kel-Tec explains that customer safety is their highest concern. As such, the manufacturer made a voluntary recall of these products to ensure the safety of their customers.
Kel-Tec is officially releasing a list of serial number ranges that are subject to the recall. The company has said they are willing to cover all costs that incur for replacing these barrels.
